Nancy Ramos was born and raised in Ontario, Canada, and currently resides and paints in Bonita, California. After retiring from a 35-year career in banking and public education, she now dedicates her time to her true passion: the visual arts.

Nancy’s artistic journey began with a strong visual arts program at Belle River High School and studies in Graphic Arts and Advertising at George Brown College in Toronto. These experiences sparked her lifelong commitment to creative expression. Over the years, she has continued to nurture this passion by taking drawing and painting classes, as well as attending numerous workshops.

In 2011, Nancy discovered abstract intuitive-gestural painting, which inspired her to delve deeper into the style. She quickly found both the challenge and the satisfaction of this expressive medium to be immensely fulfilling.

Working primarily with mixed media and acrylics on canvas, Nancy often incorporates loose figurative or structural elements set against rich, gestural backgrounds. Her work reflects a dynamic balance between spontaneous creativity and controlled design.

As Nancy explains, “I have learned to let go, observe, and allow things to evolve—an approach that contrasts sharply with my previous work in accounting and project planning.”

For Nancy, abstract painting presents boundless opportunities for discovery and growth plus the challenge to balance the free-flowing creativity of the right brain, with that of the analytical, problem-solving abilities of the left.
